2009-2010 Graduate Assistantship Available

We have selected our graduate assistant for the 2009-2010 school year and are no longer accepting applications.
 
 
The UIC Office of Career Services is currently accepting applications for a
Graduate Assistant for the 2009-2010 school year

    Duties:
  • Assist with administrative tasks, employer relations, and event planning
  • Provide customer service and front desk support
  • Develop marketing materials and assist with outreach campaigns
  • Facilitate presentations, provide brief advising to various majors, and help with job fairs
  • Maintain online social network presence (twitter, facebook, etc)
  • Assist with our weekly Flame newspaper section
  • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:
  • Current graduate student able to work both Fall 2009 and Spring 2010
  • Strong desire to assist peers with career development and job search issues
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and learn new tasks quickly
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • An interest in two or more of the following career areas: event planning, higher education administration, human resources, management, marketing, teaching, or writing.
  • Basic knowledge of the services and resources provided by the UIC Office of Career Services and the UIC Student Employment Office.
  • Experience working in a university/college setting, customer service position, or administrative position preferred

    Hours:
  • The position is a 50% position (20 hrs/wk) and includes a tuition waiver and stipend. Work hours are usually between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

    Other:
  • Candidates must be eligible for federal work-study! Subsidized loans may be eliminated or reduced for federal work-study. International students are not eligible for federal work study.
