The UIC Office of Career Services is currently accepting applications for a
Graduate Assistant for the 2008-2009 school year
Duties:
- Assist with administrative tasks, employer relations, and event planning
- Provide customer service and front desk support
- Develop marketing materials and assist with campaigns
- Facilitate presentations, provide brief advising, and help with job fairs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Current graduate student able to work both Fall 2008 and Spring 2009
- Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and learn new tasks quickly
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- An interest in two or more of the following career areas: event planning, higher education administration, human resources, management, marketing, teaching, or writing.
- Basic knowledge of the services and resources provided by the UIC Office of Career Services and the UIC Student Employment Office.
- Experience working in a university/college setting, customer service position, or administrative position preferred
Hours:
- The position is a 50% position (20 hrs/wk) and includes a tuition waiver and stipend. Work hours are usually between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm.
- Fall 2008 work period is August 16, 2008 - December, 15 2008
- Spring 2009 work period is January 16, 2009 - May 15th, 2009

- Candidates must be eligible for federal work-study! Subsidized loans may be eliminated or reduced for federal work-study.
