National Student Employment Week was established to increase public awareness of student employees by recognizing students who work while attending college.

It will be held during the second full week of April 14-18, 2008.

For the past fifteen years, UIC, in conjunction with the National Student Employment Association, has celebrated National Student Employment Week. Various events will be held throughout the week. Check our website as the time draws nearer.

Essay Contest on "Importance of a Part-Time Job"

UIC students can submitt a 500 word essay on the Importance of a Part-time Job and how their position has effected them. All entries must include a cover sheet.

Deadline for submission is April 3, 2008.  


The Winner will receive a $100 monetary prize!


The winner for 2008 is Wei Tang, a student in the Graduate College majoring in Communication.

Departments can nominate student employees based on their exceptional work performance. Each year five students are selected. Each winner will receive a $100 prize award. Will you be one of the five this year?

Student Employment Supervisors will be submitting 'sweet' sentiments that will be posted in the Chicago Flame during National Student Employment Week. Make sure to check to see if your supervisor submits a message on your behalf.
