NEW!!  Beginning Spring term 2008:

FINDING OUR VOICES

An LGBTQ affirming group for LGBTQueer individuals

Finding our Voices is a psychotherapy group offered to Gay, Lesbian,
Bisexual, Transgender, and/or Queer-identified individuals who are
interested in learning more about both themselves and their relationships
with others.  Individuals who might benefit from the group may be those
wishing to work on being less socially anxious and/or those who are
looking for ways to better understand what a healthy relationship looks
like for them.  Members may also use the group in order to better
understand how they are perceived by others and may learn ways to deal
with things like boundary setting, assertiveness, and how to best
communicate their needs to others. In addition, the group also aims to
accomplish these and other goals in the context of other LGBTQ-identified
persons, and will also likely examine how aspects such as oppression,
societal pressures, stereotypes, and internalized homophobia impact the
development of healthy relationships.

Should you wish to learn more about the group and/or are interested in
joining, please contact Michael Bricker or Stacy Frazier at the UIC
Counseling Center at (312) 996-3490 or at the following e-mail addresses
mbricker@uic.edu (Michael Bricker) or stacyf@uic.edu (Stacy Frazier).
