When arriving on campus, you will be greeted by the Student Orientation Leaders. These talented UIC students will lead you through the program and serve as an invaluable resource as they have already been through orientation and the transition to college. They are eager to answer questions or to offer advice. Parents and students will part ways and follow different programs specifically tailored to their needs. Through various activities, including speakers, panel presentations, and tours, parents and students will become better acquainted with the UIC community. A final schedule of activities and information sessions for both the student and parent programs will be given to you upon arrival. You can look forward to your program knowing that it will give you a taste of campus life and all that this great university has to offer.
The Transfer and Readmit Student Orientation Program is a one-day session designed to acquaint you with UIC and provides you with your first opportunity to meet with an academic advisor. Orientation is required for transfer students, and although it is optional for readmitted students, attendance is highly encouraged. Special Note: Unfortunately, friends, current students, or significant others will not be allowed to “tag along” with the student during the Transfer and Readmit Orientation Program. We welcome these individuals as participants in the Parent Orientation Program.
When you contact the Orientation Program, our reservationists will guide you to the first available date. Please be aware that check-in for transfer and readmit students will begin at 7:45 a.m. at the Student Services Building, (1200 W Harrison Street).
