Is it really required that I stay overnight for the freshman orientation? Why?
Yes, all students attending the freshman program must spend the night at orientation. The overnight portion of the program has been specifically designed to allow students a chance to become familiar with the campus and to meet their peers. Through various planned academic and social activities, students will experience a taste of college, and the overnight stay will ensure students are on time for the early start of the second day.
If I am a transfer/ readmit student, is orientation required for me?
Transfer students are required to attend orientation. Readmitted students are strongly encouraged to attend orientation, but should you elect not to attend the Orientation Program, you may not be able to meet with an academic advisor within your college until late August.
Is the Parent Orientation required?
The Parent Orientation Program is optional but strongly recommended. Please be aware that there is an additional $75 fee for each parent or guest.
My parents and I did not attend our scheduled orientation programs. Why is there an Orientation charge on my bill?
Once you have scheduled a student or parent orientation, the orientation fee will be assessed unless you cancel your reservation at least seven days prior to your anticipated date. If you are unable to attend your scheduled orientation and contact the Orientation Program at least seven days prior to your scheduled date, you may reschedule to a different date without penalty.
Is there any way to avoid paying the orientation fee?
An Orientation Fee Discount Request form is available on our Web site. The discount request, along with documentation verifying the information you have supplied, must be faxed, mailed or delivered to the Orientation Program at least seven days prior to your Orientation Program date. Submitting a waiver does not mean it is automatically approved. You will be contacted shortly after your orientation with our decision regarding your waiver. If you have scheduled your date and have not been notified about your pending fee waiver, please still attend your program. We cannot accept any fee waivers submitted after you have participated in your Orientation Program.
Do I pay my university bill at orientation?
No, university bills (e-Bills), which include tuition and fees, will become available to you at the beginning of September, after the beginning of the fall semester. The University of Illinois creates official billing statements for all students. However, currently registered students (and their parents) must retrieve their billing statements online. An E-Bill is an official billing statement in PDF format that is available online for students and parents to view, save, and print. The E-Bill includes all student account transactions such as: payments received charges and credits for tuition, fees, and housing. Please visit www.usfsco.uillinois.edu for more information.
What if I can’t set up my NetID or EnterpriseID? Can I still attend orientation?
If you are not able to establish your Common Password and/or your Enterprise Password, please go to the following Web site and read the instructions for assistance http://orientation.accc.uic.edu. If the problem is not resolved before your scheduled orientation date, please bring your problem ticket number and any information you may have been given about this matter to orientation so that it may be fixed at that time.
After orientation, may I change my schedule if a class becomes available?
Because there are many students registering for and switching out of classes at any given time, openings in other classes may become available at the beginning of the semester. You may have the opportunity to secure a desired class (if offered) following orientation. More information on class registration and scheduling will be provided to you during your academic advising session.
Do I have to pay the CampusCare Heath Insurance Fee?
Yes! All freshmen transfer and readmit students that are registered for classes at UIC are automatically enrolled into CampusCare and assessed the CampusCare Health Insurance Fee as part of their tuition and fees. If you already have health insurance, you can submit an online waiver form prior to the published deadline. For more information about CampusCare, please visit www.uic.edu/hsc/campuscare/chicago.
