WHAT IS JLD?

The Job Location and Development (JLD) Program is a service through the Student Employment Office that assists employers to connect with enrolled students who are seeking off-campus career related employment that is part-time year-round employment and full-time summer employment. The program is centered on creating real-world experiences and for students to increase self-knowledge and develop marketable skills that provide a solid foundation for securing career-related options beyond graduation.  JLD is a federally funded program which operates year-round.  Employers post their job opportunities through UICCAREERS.COM.  The JLD coordinator works to develop off campus positions for students in ALL MAJORS.  Additional services include providing access to employment opportunity information and various workshops developed to improve resume writing, interviewing skills and job fair networking opportunities.

JLD students work in business administration, banking, hospitality, criminal justice, food services, education, information technology, advertising, healthcare, media and many other industries.  Positions include editorial intern, lifeguard, human resources intern, legal clerk, sales intern, research assistant, tutor, library assistant, marketing promotion intern, office operations analyst, camp counselor and many more.
